ABA Therapy
ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) is the process of systematically applying interventions based upon the principles of learning theory to increase desired behaviors, decrease inappropriate behaviors, teach new skills (language skills, cognitive skills, social skills), and generalize skills to new situations.

Types of services:
  • Center based services are provided at our office by therapists who are trained and experienced. The programs are developed and constantly monitored by our BCBAs. Center based programs provide the advantage of constant supervision and the opportunity to update programs and answer questions on as needed basis. We offer both part time and full time options for our center based programs.
  • Consultative services are provided by our BCBA (board certified behavior analyst) in the child’s home environment. Our BCBA will conduct an assessment at the onset of the program and develop an intervention plan. Parents are responsible of identifying the therapists and assuming the financial responsibility for all trainings required. A bimonthly meeting with all the therapists is required to ensure that protocols are followed and training needs are met, and questions are answered. Some parents prefer this approach because the therapy is provided in home although finding and training therapists may be challenging at times.

DIR/Floortime Therapy

DIR is a comprehensive intervention that focuses on helping individuals engage and relate to others, initiate and respond to all types of communication, engage in shared social problem-solving, use ideas to communicate needs, to think and play creatively

  • Parent implemented program: following the initial evaluation, goals are developed and intervention plan is developed. We provide an initial training session with the parents after which they are required to implement the intervention strategies. Regular sessions can be scheduled (if schedules work out) or weekly tapes of parent – child sessions can be mailed to us and written feedback is given. A minimum of one hour per month of direct training is required if the parents choose the videotaping avenue.
  • Team implemented in home program - Intervention strategies are implemented by a team of therapists in the child’s home. Parents are responsible of identifying the therapists and assuming the financial responsibility for all trainings required. A bimonthly meeting with all the therapists is required to ensure that protocols are followed and training needs are met, and questions are answered. Social Skills Groups

We offer unique opportunities for our clients to understand and use verbal and nonverbal communication, to learn and practice social rules, and to apply the rules of being part of a group. We are analyzing all the foundation skills needed for a successful experience in a group setting and we are providing a supportive environment to learn and practice those specific skills.

Types of services:

Center based services only – Social skills groups are offered Monday through Friday in 2 hour slots. We designed our curriculum and structured our groups to address core skills for each of the age groups:
With our younger children we are concentrating on play skills including, but not limited to: watching peers in play, imitating peers, initiating and responding appropriately to initiations, maintaining play by building on or adding new ideas to the "scene". Through play and other social activities we are also targeting conversation skills, inferencing skills, understanding own and other's emotions as well as what it means to be part of a group.
With school age children, adolescents, and adults we are implementing Michelle Garcia Winner’s social thinking curriculum. We explore social concepts related to: being part of a group - the need to establish physical presence (be in the same space) as well as use our whole body to show interest in our friends and let them know when we are paying attention to them; thinking with our eyes - eye contact has meaning and is purposeful (when we look at someone we are thinking about that person, we are trying to figure out what they may be planning to do or what they may be thinking about us); understanding own and other emotions with an emphasis on the facial features that make up a facial expression and the events that may "cause" a specific emotion; understanding that people have thoughts about us, understanding how our behavior determines what other people may think about us, and so much more.

Tutoring
We offer tutoring services at our office only. An initial evaluation is required for each client and an intervention plan is designed based on individual needs.
